As a small child I had bad nightmares and one day at kindergarten I decided to make a special concoction to put under my bed to banish the bad dreams. It was made of cellophane and glitter and coloured paper but most importantly my intention to sleep soundly. And it worked\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003e✨ Like magic.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003eI still had nightmares sometimes but they were much less frequent and my fascination with talismans was born. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eThe first talisman I have made in this new series is for protection. I made it for a darling friend’s milestone birthday. I decided on using the surrealist method of automatic making employed by the likes of André Breton, Max Ernst and Joan Miro. I have the idea of, in this case, protection in mind but I let my body take over and create from the subconscious. I sculpt with my hands in soft wax in a state of flow and surrender.
